- XCVI - La fuerza de ausencia, llega a los brutos

Un Ventor en la casa fatigada
perdió su dueño, por ganar el viento,
fuésele el jabalí, llegó el lamento;
llegó la ausencia de rigor armada.
El aire rompe con la voz cansada,
la cabeza inclinando, al sentimiento;
bebe la tierra, a vueltas del aliento,
por si su dueño la dejó pisada.
Seguí su curso asido a su dolencia,
miré mi estampa en él, como en espejo,
y componiendo mi dolor extraño
le dije, irracional tened paciencia,
que el propio mal que causa vuestro daño,
tengo, y soy racional, y no me quejo.
