Sopla el Meridional de mis suspiros,
y mil lluvias de lágrimas desata
de estos mis ojos, que el amor maltrata,
por claro honor de sus dorados tiros;

sopla, y suspende los celestes giros,
(tan blando por el aire se dilata)
sopla, mas nunca de mi estrella ingrata,
los dos suspende globos de zafiros.

Puede (¿quién duda?) en las ternezas mías
mostrar la sana de su fuerza dura;
crecer las noches, suspender los días;

pero como podrá la fuerza pura,
que aun temeré, cuando en cenizas frías
ocupe mi temida sepultura.
