- VI - Mirando un incendio

Subes, ¡oh llama!, con veloz carrera,
de estos cansados leños desatada,
solicitando, en humo transformada,
el distante reposo de tu esfera;

pero al subir por la región ligera
te vuelve el viento burlador en nada:
¡ay de ti, cuánto amante, desdichada,
de mi más dulce acción imagen fiera!

Así disuelta, sube, el alma mía
del corazón, solicitando asiento,
a la esfera veloz de su alegría,

y nunca llega a consumir su intento,
que es humo de mi ardor, y a su porfía
es un desdén dificultad del viento.
