- XIX - Similitud de la nieve, y el alma

Cae la hermosa nieve de la altura,
desciende el alma noble de hacia el Cielo,
la nieve se introduce en el vil suelo,
y en la tierra del cuerpo el alma pura.

Poco en la tierra el bello candor dura,
y poco el alma, que la vida es vuelo,
pisadas manchan de la nieve el velo,
y error la faz del alma desfigura.

Llama a nieve el Sol con luz severa,
tira la parte leve hacia sí mismo,
la grave en río al valle se exonera.

Llama Dios la alma a sí en el paroxismo,
la sutil en virtud sube a la esfera,
y la pesada en culpa va al abismo.
