- XLI -

Menalca, de este monte y su espesura
gallardo cazador, habiendo el fuerte
diente del jabalí la cruda muerte
dado a Melampo, con fiereza dura,
a ti, diosa, ornamento y hermosura
de la selvas y cielos, se convierte,
llorando y despidiendo de esta suerte
la voz que disminuye la tristura.
Salve, en tres formas adorada Diosa,
salve, y recibe aqueste don sagrado,
que murió peleando en tu ejercicio.
Melampo, espanto y miedo de la odiosa
compañía de lobos, sacrificio
es chico, pero mucho fue estimado.
